SEVILLE
Seville has been a city for a long time, and many different peoples have lived here, such as the Phoenicians, the Romans and the Moors among others. All these peoples have left many remains of their living here, so we have a great historic city centre with theCathedral and the Alcázar, which are part of UNESCO's World Heritage. Seville is also famous for its impressive Holy Week processions and fantastic April's Fair. Sevillians are people who are used to enjoying life and love doing so in the streets of their magnificent city.
Seville is a great city to visit and walk all year long except for the summer, come and enjoy it.
DESCRIBING MY BEDROOM
I have got my own room. In my room there is a bed, a table, a chair, a wardrobe and a television. There is a window above the table. The television is opposite my bed so I can watch it when I am in bed.
The wardrobe is on the left and my bed is on the right. There is a computer on the table and books, pens and cds are near the computer. There is a magazine and a camera on the bed.
IONA ISLAND
kilometres from north to south and about three kilometres from east to west, with its highest
point rising to 101 metres above the sea level. There are between 60 to 80 inhabitants living
on the island permanently.
This very small place is steeped in history and tradition. Its significance began in 563 AD,
when Columba, the follower of St. Patrick, landed on Iona. Columba, who was the founder of
the Christian Celtic Church, built an abbey on the island. The initial primitive construction
was replaced with a stone one and then richly ornamented. During the Reformation period,
the abbey was destroyed and it was only in the forties of the 20th century that its full
reconstruction was carried out. Now the church and adjacent buildings have returned to their
simple beauty, with smooth walls of pink granite and impressive dark woodwork.
There is something very special about this place. Even though it is visited by many
tourists every year, you feel the heavenly peace and undisturbed tranquillity on the island.
The sea is crystal clear and on sunny days it has an unreal turquoise colour. Legend has it
that when the rest of the world sinks below the waves of the ocean, Iona will remain
untouched. When you look at the picturesque surroundings you are inclined to believe that.
